The Repair Process

Overview

The repair process will depend on a number of factors depending on what caused the event. If the cause was a leak of water from pipes inside the propoerty then in most cases the wet areas will not have been contaminated. However if the cause is a flood from water entering the property from a stream or river then this water will most likely be contaminated. Both these cases are covered by the analytics and Ai systems within ValidatorAssist.

Typically the process steps are shown below.

Assessment

An Adjuster will visit and make notes on the damage and contents affected.

Contents Removal

Contents and furniture that can be saved will be stored. Damaged items will be removed.

Strip out

Materials affected by water will be removed. This may be as simple as carpets and flooring to large scale plaster removal from walls and ceilings.

Drying

The materials left will in most cases need drying. The equipment used needs to do three things: heat, air flow and moisture removal from the air.

Restoration

The damaged areas will now be restored to their original condition. For example walls plastered and painted. At the end of this stage any contents removed will be returned and the property will be back to normal.
